I love helping families understand and embrace the power of birth! I have spent over a decade serving women and families as a social worker, therapist, birth doula, and educator, and have witnessed how impactful the birth experience can be on the whole family.
In that time, I have completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling, become a certified Birth Doula, and completed my training and certification as a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Happiest Baby on the Block Educator. My education and career have centered on pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum adjustment and I now offer a variety of services for pregnant and new families in the Longmont/Boulder area.
Counseling
-Some of the services I offer as a therapist include helping you:
-Address fears you have about becoming a parent
-Explore past trauma or abuse, and how this may affect your pregnancy, birth, and parenting
-Cope with the stresses of adding a new baby to your family
-Process issues of grief and loss, especially as they relate to pregnancy and fertility
-Work through a difficult or traumatic birth experience
-Adjust to motherhood, including addressing issues with postpartum depression and anxiety
Classes
I teach group and private childbirth education classes, with a focus on helping families prepare for a natural birth. I believe in the concept that “knowledge is power”, so my childbirth education classes are designed to ensure that families have the necessary information to advocate for the birth they want and understand the various options and interventions that may arise. My group class is a 5-week series held in Boulder, CO. I also offer in-home private childbirth education classes designed around your schedule and educational priorities.
In addition to childbirth classes, I teach group and private Happiest Baby on the Block classes. This is one of the only parenting methods that I think every parent-to-be should learn! It’s a two-and-a-half hour class that helps parents learn techniques to soothe a fussy baby and become more confident in their skills as parents. I teach this class in Boulder and Denver. I also offer private, in-home Happiest Baby consultations, which cover much of the same information as the group class, while also addressing any logistical or spatial issues that may affect your baby’s ability to soothe.
Birth Doula
And last, but certainly not least, I provide birth doula services to families in Longmont, Boulder, and North Denver. I love my birth doula work and strongly believe that every family deserves the loving support and education that a doula can provide. As a birth advocate who believes that natural birth is (under most circumstances) better for mom and baby, I think having a doula at your side and thereby reducing interventions is important. As a therapist, given that studies have shown that women who have doulas experience a higher rate of satisfaction with their birth and a lower rate of postpartum depression, I think it is imperative!
Please let me know how I can best be of service to you and your family. I look forward to the opportunity to support you in this incredible journey!
